Carl Reisner, 74 years of age, of Bloomfield, died peacefully at his home on Thursday March 15, 2012. Born in the Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Louis and Mary Reisner. Carl was the beloved husband of 50 years of Barbara (Lessinger) Reisner; loving father of Heidi York and her husband Rick of Windsor, Ronald Reisner and his wife Laura of West Hartford, and Marc Reisner and his wife Lynn of Natick; and cherished grandfather of Gregg York, Melissa York, Lily Reisner, Jared Reisner, Alexis Reisner, and Jake Reisner who were the joys of his life. He also leaves his brother Bernard Reisner, and sisters Aura Reisner and Trudi Reisner. Carl was well known for owning and operating the Weatogue Barber Shop for 47 years. He leaves a long legacy of service and volunteerism including 32 years on the Bloomfield Town Council and Zoning Board of Appeals, longstanding member of the Bloomfield Republican Town Committee, past president of the Beth Hillel Synagogue, former chairman of the Beth Hillel Synagogue Youth Commission, past president of the Federation Homes, and past noble grand of the Jonathan Lodge I.O.O.F. He was active in YMCA Indian Guides, Connecticut Eye Bank and Visual Research Center, Jaycees, and the Northern Connecticut Chapter of Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. He also served in The United States Army. Funeral Services will be held Sunday March 18, 2012 at 11:30 A.M. in the sanctuary of Beth Hillel Synagogue, 160 Wintonbury Avenue, Bloomfield with Rabbi Gary Atkins and Rabbi Phillip Lazowski officiating. Interment will follow in Beth Hillel Synagogue Cemetery, Wolcott Road, East Granby. Shiva will be observed at his home, 43 Cliffmount Drive Bloomfield, Sunday through Wednesday evening.
