SCHUMACHER, Bruce Schumacher, 65 years of age, of West Hartford passed away, with his family by his side, on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at the Hebrew Home and Hospital, West Hartford. Born in Brooklyn, New York April 20th 1944, he was the son of the late Jules Schumacher and the late Esther Goldner Schumacher. Bruce attended Baldwin Senior High School on Long Island and after leaving the University of Toledo Bruce became what he jokingly called himself ?the original ?Graduate?.? He went into the plastics business with the A. Schulman Company in Ohio and in the early eighties was a partner in the Seahorse Trading Company. In 1987, he and his family moved to West Hartford, CT and in 1988, Bruce and his loving wife, Marty, built and opened DryKleaning by McKleans in Farmington, CT. He and Marty worked side by side for over 21 years. They opened a second store at Bishops Corner in 2000. He was a proud member of the Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation ? Emek Shalom in Simsbury. Bruce loved life and his dynamic personality touched all who met him. He loved God, Marty and his family so deeply, it was inscribed in his wedding band. Because he worked so many hours, he loved being at home and he especially enjoyed taking his buddy ?Gus? on walks in the neighborhood and also taking him on errands and getting bagels on Sunday mornings. He leaves his wife of 28 years, Marty, who will miss him more than he will ever know. He is survived by his children, Beth Greenberg of Skokie, IL and her husband Steven, his son Dan Schumacher and his wife Leslie of West Lafayette, IN, his son Michael Schumacher of West Hartford, and his daughter Lauren of Philadelphia, PA. He also leaves his brother Edward and his wife Rebecca of Bethesda, MD, his sister Linda McMullen and her husband Richard of Cleveland Heights, OH, a stepbrother Barry and his wife Cathy of Chevy Chase, MD, his mother-in-law Mildred Pease of Bristol, CT, his sister-in-law Janice Baranoski and her husband Ken of Cheshire, CT, and his brother-in-law Bob Pease and his wife Nancy of Terryville, CT. Bruce adored and was so very proud of his seven grandchildren Seth, Ami, and Joey Greenberg, and Leah, Nick, Brendan and Alayna Schumacher. He will also be missed by his many cousins, nieces, and nephews. His family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford.
