David I. Brody, age 95, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on January 15th, 2021. Dave was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was born in New York City on October 5th, 1925 to the late Rebecca and Harry Brody. Dave was a World War II Veteran and P.O.W.. He moved to Hartford, Connecticut in 1960, where he and his brother established Atlas Tile, Inc. He worked there for many years, before passing on the business to two of his sons. Dave was well-known for all of the wonderful wooden toys, dollhouses, and one-of-a-kind Menorahs he made for his family and friends. He and his wife, Shirley K. Brody, travelled the world together. The two loved their retirement years that they spent in Boca Raton, Florida. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, sons Rick Brody and wife Maxine; Mitch Brody and wife Marilyn; and Steve Brody and wife Marci. His seven grandchildren: Seth, Lauren, Marc and fiancé Sarah, Stephanie, Lisa, Rachel, and Samantha and husband Curtis. Also many nieces and nephews. Due to Covid-restrictions, a private service with military honors will be held for immediate family on Sunday, January 17th, 2021. Should friends desire, contributions can be made to Temple Beth El West Hartford or Food Share West Harford.
