Bonnie Faye (Rogow) Rabin, 84, of Ellington, loving wife of 65 years to Sidney Rabin, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026. She bravely fought the challenges of dementia.
Bonnie was born on January 1st, 1942, in Hartford CT, to Margery (Seidner) Rogow and George Rogow.
She attended and graduated from Weaver High School in Hartford, CT, where she met and dated her high school sweetheart, Sidney. Soon after graduating, they wed and began married life in Tennessee, where Sidney began his service in the United States Air Force. After some time in Tennessee, life brought them back to Connecticut.
Bonnie always had a way of helping people through her efforts while working.
Beginning with her time at Aetna and eventually moving on to work at the South Windsor Town Hall in South Windsor, CT, for 39 years, with most of it proudly serving as the Tax Collector. As a Tax Collector, she not only excelled at her job but was also always willing to lend a hand to those who needed help with their finances, providing great relief to many families, single parents, and elderly couples.
Bonnie was also willing to do more than her share of the workload. She chose to work a second job. She worked at Adams Mills Restaurant (now Elicit Brewing) in Manchester, CT, for over 25 years.
Bonnie was predeceased by her parents, Margery and George Rogow, brother Stephen, sister Marlene, her parents-in-law, Bess and Solomon Rabinovitz, and her lifelong best friend Sheila Rosenblatt.
She is survived by her husband, Sidney, her children, son Craig Rabin and wife Lee, daughter Lori Rabin, grandchildren Gabrielle Heaney and her husband, Billy, and grandson Aaron Stein. Bonnie is also survived by her niece Lisa Kennedy, and nephew Jonas Miller, along with many cousins, and lastly her two furry best friends, cat Amber and dog Quinn.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 7, at Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, 80 Wolcott Road, East Granby, CT 06026.
