Betty Lebedinsky

Betty Lebedinsky passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home in West Hartford, CT on the morning of Thursday, February 5. She was 88 years old. Betty was born in Moscow, Russia to parents Aaron and Elizabeth (Krant) Gershman. She grew up in Russia, and in 1975 she and her husband Nahum emigrated from Russia to the United States with their young son Alex, eventually settling in West Hartford.

While in Russia, Betty earned a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering and worked in that field, but after moving to the U.S. she switched to a career as a software systems analyst in greater Hartford's insurance industry, where she worked for many years. She also helped recent immigrants learn about her adopted country and prepare for their U.S. citizenship naturalization tests.

Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband, Nahum, who died in 2006. Betty is survived by her son, Alex Lebedinsky and his wife, Melissa Lebedinsky, both of Gaithersburg, MD, and her grandchildren Joshua and Rachel Lebedinsky.

A funeral service will be held at 12pm on Monday, February 9 in the Chapel of Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT 06105. Interment will follow at the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, 80 Wolcott Road, East Granby, CT 06026.
