Betty ((Jacobs)) Jacobs

Betty (Jacobs) Jacobs, 95, passed away peacefully on January 8th, with her daughter by her side. Daughter of Benjamin Jacobs and Rachel (Cohen) Jacobs, Betty was born and raised in Caerphilly, South Wales and emigrated to the United States in 1955. She was married to her beloved late husband, Harold Jacobs for close to sixty years. She was also predeceased by her son David, who died tragically in 1967 and by her two sisters , Lillian Levine and Anita Price. Betty worked as a bookkeeper for Wynshaws Bridal Shop, Arthur Drug and The Piccadilly Shop. She then spent 20 happy retirement years with Harold as snowbirds in Delray Beach, Florida. Betty was a wonderful cook, who made memorable Shabbos and holiday dinners. She loved gardening, playing Mahjongg and Canasta, traveling the country, spending time with family and socializing with friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. Betty is survived by her loving family: daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and David Edricks, granddaughter and husband, Rachel and Colin Shallcross, granddaughter Lauren Edricks, all of whom she adored, as well as her nieces Alene Newton and Pat Draznin, brother-in-law Jeff Jacobs and cousins in New York, California and Leeds, England.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT with Rabbi Philip Lazowski officiating. Interment will follow in the Teferes Israel Cemetery, Meriline Avenue, West Hartford, CT. Following the interment, calling hours will be held at the home of Sharon and David Edricks, 9 Tallwood Rd, Farmington, CT from 3:00-8:00 pm, and on Thursday, January 11th, 2:00-8:00 pm, and Friday, January 12th, 11:00am-2:00 pm.
