Betsy Ruth (Lebowitz) Kosovsky, of West Hartford died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Thursday, January 13, 2011 after a brief illness. Born March 21, 1930 in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Etta (Dunn) Lebowitz. Betsy devoted her life to family, friends and numerous community causes. She was a beautiful, graceful and intelligent woman full of love and life and will be greatly missed by family, friends and all who knew her. Her personal passion was being a wife, mother and grandmother. Her inspirational legacy lives on through her children and grandchildren, to whom she passed on her values as a loving person who honors family, inspires accomplishments that come with hard work, and has the courage to persevere. She was a member of Beth El Temple of West Hartford and numerous charitable organizations, including Hadassah and the American Cancer Society. Betsy was the beloved wife for 56 years of Melvin Kosovsky; cherished mother of Wendy L. Kern Seymour and her husband Thomas Seymour of West Hartford, Joel M. Kosovsky and his wife Karen of West Hartford, and Marshall J. Kosovsky and his wife Marguerite of Northborough, MA; grandmother of Bradd, Katherine, Elizabeth, and Alex Kern, Brian and Matthew Kosovsky, and Ian, Leah, and Russell Kosovsky. The family wishes to express their appreciation to her loving and devoted caretaker Anna and McLean Hospice. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 16, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with interment in the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, Wolcott Rd., East Granby. A memorial period will be observed Sunday following the interment through Monday evening at the home of Wendy and Thomas Seymour.
