Bertram L. Eyges, 106, of West Hartford, CT and Delray Beach, FL died on October 22, 2016. He was born in Dorchester, MA on Sept. 25, 1912 to the late Henry A. and Celia Florence Eyges and was the beloved husband of the late Gemma (Peltier) Eyges. He graduated from English High School in 1930, attended Bridgton Academy and the University of Virginia. He graduated from Boston University Law School in 1936 and practiced law with his father until March 4, 1941 when he was drafted into the army as a private. He transferred to the Military Police, graduated from Military Intelligence School and then from Officer’s Candidate School as a second lieutenant. He served in the Military Police, in the Intelligence Division and as a trial judge advocate. He defended two soldiers in different Summary Court Martial and won both. He then was a Transport Commander carrying troops and cargo to Europe and North Africa. He was discharged in 1946 as a first lieutenant. Upon discharge, he changed careers and became associated with his brothers as a partner in the antique jewelry and silver business. In 1956, he started B.L. Eyges & Co. in West Hartford, CT, which he ran until 1989 with the “girl of his dreams,”, his wife Gemma. In the 1970’s, he graduated from the Gemological Institute of America and one year later became a certified gemologist. Bertram is survived by his son, Cary M. Eyges of Revere, MA, his daughter, Debra S. Eyges and her husband, Andrew Krevolin of West Hartford, three wonderful grandchildren Katherine Krevolin, Joseph Krevolin and Isabel Eyges, as well as a brother Robert Eyges and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his brothers Francis, Roy, and Nathaniel.

Funeral services will take place at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 26, 2018 in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT with Rabbi Michael Pincus officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Ave., Hartford, CT. Immediately following the interment, and on Sunday from 4-8, the family will receive relatives and friends at the home of Debra and Andrew.
