Bert Shampain

Bert Shampain, 88 years of age, of West Hartford, died at home on Wednesday, December 30, 2009. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Lillian (Salow) Shampain and by his second wife, Sylvia (Cohen) Klau Shampain. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Samuel and Caroline (Goldberg) Shampain. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. Bert was the service manager at the former G. Fox & Company in Hartford before he retired. He leaves his son, Robert S. Shampain and his wife Marjorie of Wethersfield; his daughter, Bonnie E. Katrosar and her husband David of Cheshire; and three grandchildren, Joshua Shampain, Michael Katrosar and Marcy Katrosar. Funeral services will be held TODAY, Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Seth Reimer officiating. Interment will follow in the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, Wolcott Rd., East Granby. Following the interment, the family will receive relatives and friends at Temple Beth Torah, 130 Main St., Wethersfield.
