As a Holocaust survivor, she carried the history of her youth with a quiet dignity, turning a period of unimaginable hardship into a lifetime defined by love, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to her family. As a young girl in Poland, she was a member of the anti-Nazi underground and had to escape to Siberia. Bea emigrated to the United States in 1947.

She was a loving mother to her son Marc Sussman of Simsbury, CT, her late daughter Roslyn Lee Sussman who passed away in 1969 at the age of 10, and her daughter Laurie Brownstein and her husband Rich Brownstein of Newton, MA. She was a cherished grandmother to Ian Brownstein and his wife Rebecca Reitz, Nicole Franco and her husband Sam Franco, Joshua Sussman, and Mathew Sussman. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Brooklyn Brownstein and Jasper Franco.
Beyond her family, Bea was a loyal and compassionate friend. She had a gift for making everyone she knew feel special and loved, and she was known for her quiet sense of grace and dignity. Her legacy of survival and love will live on through the generations she nurtured.
Bea was a chairman for the State of Israel Bonds Women’s Division, Vice Chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, active in B’nai Israel Sisterhood, a life member of Hadassah and a Lion of Judah, a member of ORT, a member of Temple Beth El Sisterhood, and a member of B’nai B’rith Zionist Organization of America.
