Barbara (Ann) Wallack

Barbara Ann Wallack, of Versailles, KY, formerly of West Hartford, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, February 19, 2012, after a short and very brave battle with leukemia. Barbara was born January 25, 1947 in Hartford, daughter of the late Howard G. and Josephine (Vogel) Wallack. She lived for most of her life in the Hartford area, attending Hall High School and Boston University, graduating with her Master’s Degree in Education. She taught in Hartford, but her real love was for horses. She built Wallwoods Farm in Bloomfield, a picturesque rehabilitation facility for racehorses. She was uncompromising and unparalleled in her care for her wards. In 2005 she followed her dreams to Kentucky where Wallwoods was reborn in Versailles. Barbara will be remembered as a loving daughter to her mother Josephine, devoted sister to Carol Hanon, the most wonderful aunt one could have to niece Julia and great-nephew Max, a funny and fiercely loyal friend to those around her, a champion for animals, and lastly for her famous chocolate bundt cakes. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Beth Israel Cemetery, Affleck St., Hartford. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford.
