Audrey Kaufmann, 79, of West Hartford, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Sunday, August 15, 2010. Audrey was born on September 13, 1930 in Hartford, daughter of the late Lydia (Oppenheimer) Krauss and Isadore Krauss. She was a graduate of Weaver High School and attended Becker Junior College. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Stephan Kaufmann, on August 25, 1998. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Lenore Zionts and her husband David, grandchildren, Michael and Jessie, of Avon, and Elise Laugeni and her husband Greg, grandchildren, Tori, Eric, Stephanie and Tara, of Woodbridge. She is mourned by her first cousin and dearest lifelong friend, Lee Bernheimer, relatives, family, numerous friends and neighbors. During her lifetime, Audrey enjoyed summers sailing in Saybrook and Mystic, extensive traveling, knitting, Mah Jong, the casino, and spending special time with family, friends and her grandchildren. As a wonderful and loving mother, wife, nana, and friend, she was treasured by everyone, as a source of strength, wisdom, love, compassion, and generosity. We were all richer for having her in our lives, and we will miss her forever. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Stephen Landau officiating. Burial will be immediately following at Congregation Tikvoh Chadoshoh Cemetery, 10 Clubhouse Road, Windsor. Following interment, the family will receive friends at the home of Lenore and David Zionts, 21 Southgate, Avon, with an evening service at 7:30 PM.
