Arthur (A.) Lapp

Arthur A. Lapp of West Hartford passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, with his family by his side. He leaves behind his beloved wife Rita, just shy of 66 years, his son Bruce and his wife Lois of S. Windsor, his daughter Bonni Lapp Horwitz of W. Hartford, his grandchildren Jennifer, Darcy and her husband Dan, Sara, David, Benjamin, and Daniel, and great-grandchildren Hunter and Lindsay. He was predeceased by his son, Barry, his brother, Barney, and his sister, Leona. Arthur was an active member of Teferes Israel Synagogue for many years. He was an avid fisherman, tennis player, and square dancer, and loved his trips to Israel, Aruba, and the Panama Canal. He was an avid Red Sox, NY Giants, and UCONN Women’s basketball fan and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Arthur worked in the electrical business, with his father from the age of 12 and had a passion for his chosen field. He graduated from Weaver High School in 1946 and the State Technical Institute in 1948. He then opened his own business, Art Lapp Electric. In 1989, he sold his business and became the electrical inspector for the Town of West Hartford where he initiated and directed successful monthly electrical forums. He retired in 2009, at the age of 80. Arthur was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was loved and admired by those who knew him for his expertise in his field, his integrity, kindness, contagious smile, and witty sense-of-humor. He was a true gentleman and would go out of his way to help his family, friends, and others in need. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at 9:30 am in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, CT with Rabbi Daniel Braune-Friedman officiating. Interment will follow at Teferes Israel Synagogue Cemetery, Merline Ave, W. Hartford. Following the services, family and friends are invited to Bonni Horwitz’s home, 109 Hilldale Rd, W. Hartford, from 12-5pm. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Hebrew Home and Hospital for their exemplary and compassionate care. A special thanks to Shemia, Shirona, and Claudia for their exceptional care at his home.
