Arthur Gartel

Arthur Gartel, 91 years of age, of West Hartford, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014. He was the husband of the late Gretchen (Esty) Gartel. Born in New Rochelle, NY, he was the son of the late William and Lillian (Alexander) Gartel. Arthur served in the US Navy during World War II. He owned the former Sabar Industries in Berlin, and more recently worked for Apex Industries in Farmington. He leaves his daughter, Candice Gartel Blanco and her husband Miguel A. Blanco of Boca Raton, FL; his sister, Pearl Friedman of Monroe Township, NJ; and his granddaughter, Laura Peterson and her husband Eric of New Haven. He also leaves his beloved nieces, Sherry Kaderli, Lorraine Cleaves, and Betty Rideout; and his beloved nephews, Jay Malamut, and Steven Porter. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Ave., West Hartford 06107.
