Arthur Carlson IV
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur “Artie” Carlson IV, 35, of Manchester CT. Artie passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
Artie was born on April 7, 1991 in Manchester CT to Arthur Carlson III and Linda (Rudis) Carlson. He grew up in Manchester and attended Manchester High School before proudly earning his GED in November of 2012.
Artie was a loving and devoted son, brother, uncle and friend. He was a “gentle giant” who leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. His laugh and disarming smile made even strangers that he had just met feel comfortable. He was easy to get along with and make friends with.
Artie loved to drive and work on cars. His occupations of choice always involved driving. Artie’s greatest joys were listening to country music and working on his cars.
He was always available to work on the cars of friends and family. He had a gift for being able to diagnose what was wrong with a car and could usually fix it. In his twenties, Artie rebuilt the engine of a Ford El Camino, one of his proudest accomplishments. He could buy a car, whose owner was frustrated because it didn’t work properly and in short order, he had repaired it, drove it for a while, and resold it.
In his youth, Artie enjoyed vacations with his family and friends in Vermont, driving the boat, riding a jet ski, water skiing, fishing, tubing, and building fires on the beach, watching the shooting stars at night.
Artie loved watching and discussing documentaries on a variety of subjects and especially enjoyed gaming with his team of friends. He had a very special relationship with his grandmother, Dorothy “Dottie” Rudis. He was the joy of her final years, always making her laugh, fooling around with her, even arm wrestling. Their time together was full of laughter and joy.
Artie was kind, loyal, generous and loving. He loved to help everyone in his circle. He was a fierce friend and would not hesitate to go out of his way to help one who needed help, whether it be solving a mechanical problem or just driving them to an appointment. Above all, Artie loved his family, especially his niece Nyra who always brought a smile to his face.
His memory will live on through his family and friends and the impact he had on others. Artie is survived by his parents, his sister LeAnna Carlson, his niece Lilinyra Botticello and his “foster” brother, Islam Bilalovski. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Morris and Dorothy (Greenstein) Rudis and Arthur and Margaret (Grogan) Carlson.
Artie’s funeral will be a graveside service at 11:30 am Tuesday May 26, 2026 at East Cemetery – Beth Shalom B’nai Israel Section, 68 Autumn Street, Manchester,CT. There will be a gathering after the service where the family will receive friends and family at Manchester Country Club, 305 South Main Street, Manchester CT.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Artie’s name.
