Anne (Irene Berdofsky) Raskin

Anne Irene (Berdofsky) Raskin, 94, of North Haven, died Thursday (February 28, 2013). She was born on October 10, 1918 in Wallingford to the late Elizabeth (Levine) and Joseph Berdofsky. She attended Connecticut State Teachers College and taught Third grade in the New Haven Public School system until her retirement. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack M. Raskin; her sisters Molla Chernoff and Betty Haberman; her brothers Dr. Louis Berdon, Samuel Berdorfe and Frank Berdorfe; and a nephew, David Berdon. She leaves a daughter, Marcia Fine and her husband, James of West Hartford; 3 granddaughters, Lauren Fine and her husband Michael Singer, Emily Fine, and Susan Hosmer and her husband Wylie; 5 great grandchildren, Hailey and Lucas Singer, Lindsay Nadler and Dylan, Cameron and Gavin Hosmer; a nephew, The Honorable Robert Berdon; a great nephew, Peter Berdon and his wife Nancy; and a sister in law, Roberta Berdorfe. The family is eternally grateful to her loving companions and caregivers, Sharon Smith and Josephine Lewis. Funeral services will be graveside on Sunday, March 3rd at 12:45 p.m. at Temple Beth Shalom Cemetery, 25 Alling Street, Hamden. Her family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. at the home of her granddaughter, Lauren Fine.
