Anne (Blum) Honiberg

Anne (Blum) Honiberg passed away Saturday, (February 19, 2011) at The Hebrew Home & Hospital. Born in Hartford, January 25, 1926, Anne was the daughter of the late Yetta and late Benjamin Blum. She was the devoted and beloved wife of the late Edward Honiberg. Anne and Ed were married almost 58 years. Together they owned and operated Baltimore Drug Store on the corner of Albany Ave. and Baltimore St. in Hartford’s North End. Anne graduated from Weaver High School and then from Larson Junior College, with a degree in medical technology. An artist by avocation, Anne continued to study art as an adult at The University of Hartford, Hartt College of Art, The Jewish Community Center, and the West Hartford Art League. Her creative talents were widely used in designing the drug store, as well as in its day to day operations. After retirement, Anne and Ed wintered in Scottsdale, AZ for 11 years. Anne leaves behind her beloved two children and their spouses, Scott and Robyn Honiberg of Oakton, VA, and Barbara Honiberg and Len Tamsky, M. D. of Phoenix, AZ and four grandchildren: Catherine and Jeffrey Tamsky of Phoenix and Zachary and Lillie of Oakton. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Bernie Blum. Anne was a ray of sunshine in many people’s lives. Her family thanks the warm and devoted staff on 2-South of the Hebrew Home and Hospital for care of Anne over these past years, as well as the recent care and comfort given by Hebrew Health Hospice. Words cannot express the gratitude the family owes to Joy Hughes, who was so much more than a caregiver to both Anne and Ed. She has been a blessing in our lives. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 11 a.m at Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, followed by interment in the Beth El Cemetery, 51 Jackson Street (off Arch Road), Avon, CT. The family will be sitting shiva after the burial through Friday afternoon at the home of cousins Jerrold and Arlene Blum, 28 High Wood Rd., Bloomfield, CT. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hebrew Home and Hospital, 1 Abrahms Blvd., West Hartford, CT 06117, Rabbi Jim Rosen’s Discretionary Fund, Beth El Temple, 2626 Albany Ave., West Hartford, CT or a charity of the donor’s choice.
