Alfred Tager, 81 years of age, of Seabury Dr., Bloomfield, died Monday, July 11, 2011. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Max and Sarah (Gorban) Tager. He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn (Perler) Tager. He was the owner of Tager Insurance, Farmington Ave., Hartford and retired in 1989. He was the Treasurer for many years of Eagle Mutual Benefit Association (Oxy), he delivered Meals on Wheels with his late wife Evie in Bloomfield for many years, and was active in the social life of Seabury Retirement Community, recently learning to play bridge. Alfred was a supportive and proud husband, father, and grandfather and friend. He was well known for his friendly disposition, always had a friendly word to all, and was a loyal friend. He leaves his sons: Barry Tager of Canton, Jeff Tager and his wife Orit of Simsbury, and Lee Tager and his wife Susan of West Simsbury; grandchildren David Desrosiers and his wife Paige, Danny Desrosiers, Brian Tager, Sara Tager and her fiancé Justin Cooper, and Adam Tager; sister-in-law Mildred Tager; and a special friend Penny Apter. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his brother George Tager. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Mendel Samuels officiating. Interment will follow in the Workmen’s Circle Branch #184, Oates Ave., Hartford. A memorial period will be observed at the home of Lee and Susan Tager, 52 Canton Rd., West Simsbury, Wednesday and Thursday with services at 7:30 pm.
