Alfred J. Dresner, 89, of Newington, CT, died on January 9, 2018. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Samuel and Dora (Goldstein) Dresner. For nearly 60 years, he was the beloved husband of the late Roslyn (Swirsky) Dresner. He was the cherished father of Debra and Mara.
He was an honors graduate of Boston University’s School of Communication. From 1948 to 1955, he proudly served as a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, attaining the rank of staff sergeant. In 1959, he began a long and successful career with The Hartford. He lent his considerable financial skills to multiple volunteer organizations, including the former community Hebrew high school, Midrasha. Upon his retirement, he and Roz enjoyed many wonderful cruises to the Caribbean.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday, January 12, in the Chapel at Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, with Rabbi Alan Alpert officiating. Burial will follow at Congregation B’nai Sholom Memorial Park, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield. Following the burial, the family will receive family and friends at 30 Schoolhouse Drive, West Hartford. Shiva will be observed Saturday, January 13, through Monday, January 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at 30 Schoolhouse Drive, West Hartford.
