Adeline (Turetzky) Solomon

Adeline (Turetzky) Solomon, 92 years of age, of Bloomfield, died Thursday, April 2, 2015. She was the widow of Arthur Solomon. Born in Colchester, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Sophie (Kivel) Turetzky. Adeline, or Adge as she liked to be called, attended Bacon Academy and then Northwestern College in Willimantic where she earned her Associates Degree. Adeline later received an honorary degree from Briarwood College in Southington. She was a lifelong volunteer and devoted her time to Women’s American ORT, the Intensive Education Center, and Federation Homes in Bloomfield where she was very active and spent many wonderful years. She leaves her daughter, Ilena Rosenstein and her husband Michael of South Windsor; her son I. Frank Solomon of Plainville; her brothers, Arnold Turetzky of Delray Beach, FL and Philadelphia, PA, and Benjamin Turetzky and his wife Linda of Palm Springs, CA; four grandchildren, Andrew, Alyssa, Joseph and Arynn Rosenstein; and a great-grandson, Benjamin. She was pre-deceased by her sisters Gladys and Betty, and her brothers Morton, Sidney and Carl. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm on Monday, April 6, 2015 at Congregation Ahavath Achim Cemetery, Tainter Hill Rd., Colchester with Rabbi Kenneth Alter officiating. The family will receive guests following the interment at the home of her daughter, Ilena, 66 Wentworth Drive, South Windsor. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Federation Homes in Bloomfield. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford.
