Abe Waldman

Abe Waldman, of West Hartford, 93, passed away on May 4, 2008, 2 weeks short of his 94th birthday. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, attended Brooklyn College and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He moved to West Hartford in 1960 and was a member of the Emanuel Synagogue for 49 years. Abe was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Sylvia (Rabinowitz) Waldman, his brothers, Bernard and Edward Waldman, his sisters, Rose Silberman, Irene Cooper and Frances Schulberg. Abe leaves his beloved children, Karen and Sid Kaye of West Hartford, and Elaine and Martin Samuels of Farmington and Bonita Springs, FL. He was the much adored Poppy to Julie and Mark Green of Short Hills, NJ, Betsy and Seth Brown of West Hartford, Carolyn and Ronnie Levine of New York, NY, Kate and Jonathan Sommers of Atlanta, GA and Lori Samuels of New York, NY. He was the cherished Great Poppy to Justin and Samara Green, Ella and Tessa Brown and Maya and Sabrina Levine. He also leaves his sister in law, Bernice Waldman, of West Hartford. The funeral will be private. Shiva will be observed at the home of Karen and Sid Kaye on Wednesday and Thursday evening, 6:30 ? 8:30 PM. The family extends thanks to the Staff on Floor 3 South at the Hebrew Home and Hospital for their special care of Abe. Memorial donations may be made to either the Young Angels Camp Scholarship Fund at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta, 5342 Tilly Mill Road, Dunwoody, GA 30338 or the Hebrew Home and Hospital, 1 Abrahms Boulevard, West Hartford, CT 06117.
