Abe Markowicz

Abe Markowicz, 82, of West Hartford, died on Saturday, (February 24, 2007). He was the husband of Jetti (Moidel) Markowicz. Born in Gorlice, Poland, he was the son of Jacob and Rose Mehr Markowicz. He was a holocaust survivor who came to the US in 1947. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He served as Vice President, Officer, and Director of 3D Bed and Bath Stores for 37 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Beth Hillel Synagogue, the World Jewish Congress, the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Simon Wiesenthal Center and Lodge 45 of the Jewish VFW. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Jeffrey and his wife, Andrea of Irvine, CA., David and his wife, Janet of Glastonbury, Jonathan Dekel-Chen of Israel; a daughter, Roberta of Los Angeles, CA; and four grandchildren in Israel. Funeral Service will be held at Weinstein Mortuary in West Hartford on TODAY at 2:30 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at the Beth Hillel Synagogue Cemetery in East Granby. Shiva will be held on Sunday-Wednesday evenings, Feb. 25-28 at 7:30 p.m. at 63 Bainton Road in West Hartford. Memorial contributions may be made to Beth Hillel Synagogue in Bloomfield.
