Evelyn (Levine) Lieberman
Evelyn (Levine) Lieberman, 77, Norwood Rd., West Hartford died Tuesday, April 18, 2006. Born in West New York, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Seymour and Marcia Levine. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Smith and by her sister Florence Leben. She attended New York University. Evelyn was an active member, former Chair and Past President of the Women’s Division of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, an active member of United Jewish Communities The Federations of North America, and a Lion of Judah member of the Women’s Division of Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford. She was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Hartford Jewish Community Center, she chaired several Galas for the JCC, and was a member of numerous arts committees at the JCC. Evelyn was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Hebrew Home & Hospital, a member of Hadassah, and Beth El Temple of West Hartford. She was also a volunteer for many years at Talking Books in East Hartford where she served as a listener to the reading volunteers. She leaves her husband, Bernard Lieberman; three sons, David Smith and his wife Gayle of Philadelphia, PA, Michael Smith and his wife Judy of Deerfield, IL, and Richard Smith and his wife Barbara of Cooper City, FL; and six grandchildren, Rachel, Aaron, Joshua, Samuel, Daniel, and Sarah Smith. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 21, 2006 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. Interment will follow at Beth El Temple Cemetery, Avon. A memorial period will be observed at her home Friday following the funeral.
