Dorothy (Abramovitz) Later, 90, of Kirkwood Road, West Hartford, wife of the late Abraham H. Later, died Thursday, July 21, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Bernhard and Anna (Liebovitz) Abramovitz. Mrs. Later was a founding member of Beth El Temple, West Hartford, a member of its Sisterhood, a board member of the former Congregation Ados Israel, a life member of Hadassah, past chairman of Israel Bonds for which she was awarded its Woman of Valor Award, a past president of B’nai Brith, and a member of the Auxiliary of the Hebrew Home & Hospital. At the age of 88, Mrs. Later became a Bat Mitzvah at Beth El Temple. She had been a 50-year summer resident of Neptune Park in New London. She leaves a son Morris P. Later and his wife Karen of West Hartford; a daughter Nancy L. Gordon and her husband Glenn of Norwich; four grandchildren: Michael and Jessica Later, Daniel Gordon and his wife Laura, and Jared Gordon; and a great granddaughter, Carolina Gordon. She also leaves a brother, Bernard Abrams of Laguna Hills, CA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2005 at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, with Rabbi Stanley Kessler officiating. Interment will follow in the Ados Israel Cemetery, Zion Hill, Hartford. A memorial period will be observed at the home of her son, Morris, 65 Vardon Road, West Hartford through Tuesday evening, at the home of her daughter, Nancy, 228 Scotland Road, Norwich, on Wednesday.
