Helen (Minsk) Cohn
Helen Bernice (Minsk) Cohn, of Deerfield Beach, FL and East Windsor, formerly of Windsor, died after a short illness on Monday, May 23, 2005 surrounded by her loving family at her home in East Windsor. Born in Dorchester, MA, she met Max Cohn during her summer vacations in Hartford. Helen was an accomplished vocalist in her youth and contemplated a career in music. She was a member of the WAVE volunteers in the United States Navy, and served her country during World War II while stationed on the West Coast. Max and Helen were married after the war in 1947. For many years Helen worked in the admissions office of Mt. Sinai Hospital in Hartford, and later as an assistant librarian at the Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor. She was very active as an Officer and Board Member in the Deerfield Pines North Condominium Association in Florida. She leaves her beloved husband Max Cohn; her four children and their spouses, Andy Cohn and his wife Joy of Philadelphia, PA, Geoffrey Cohn and his wife Laura of Branchburg, NJ, Wendy Cohn and her husband Mark Termini of Brecksville, OH, and Bob Cohn and his wife Jean of South Windsor; and her seven grandchildren, Alex, Ellen, Rachel, Erin, Abigail, Ben and Ethan Cohn. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 26, 2005 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with interment in the Piaterer Verein Society Cemetery, Wethersfield. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday following the funeral at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Jean Cohn, 35 Ferry Lane, South Windsor 06074.
