Jay Ervin Lichtenbaum
Jay Ervin Lichtenbaum, born on Friday, May 13, 1927 was called forth to Heaven’s eternal peace on Friday, January 13, 2017. Jay was born 89 years ago in Wilmington, DE, moved to Hartford, CT as a young boy, and lived in Cromwell, CT for over 40 years. After service in World War II for the United States Navy, Jay attended school to learn the intricate art, craft and skill of engraving with hand tools on precious metals. Jay served his apprenticeship at Henry Cohen & Son, Hartford, CT, and then became the resident engraver for G. Fox & Company until he retired in 1992. Jay was requisitioned to engrave a silver cigar box for Dwight D. Eisenhower, and numerous gift pieces to celebrate the births of President John F. Kennedy’s children. In the mid 1970’s Jay began engraving ceremonial pewter fire trumpets for fire departments across Connecticut and throughout the United States. In his later years, Jay enjoyed oil painting at the Cromwell Senior Center, and summers at Old Colony Beach in Old Lyme, CT with his family and grandchildren. Jay enters Heaven to be reunited with the love of his life, his wife Sylvia “Silly” Lichtenbaum. Jay will be kept alive in the hearts of his brother Harry L. Lichtenbaum of Wethersfield and his son Hal Marc, daughters Jan and Lainie Rae, son-in-law Michael Bartolotta, grandchildren Joshua & Jordan Figueroa, Liza Beth and CJ Bartolotta, great-grandchildren Jaxon and Jacob Figueroa. Private graveside services. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford.
