Philip N. Myrun

Philip Myrun, 68, passed away June 9, 2016 after a short illness. Phil was born November 16, 1947 in Providence, RI to Sophie and the late Maurice Myrun. He is survived by his sister Judy Villamarin of DE, his niece Joann Villamarin and her husband Joe Cutter and his nephew Jake Milstein and his wife Jen Arterburn and their children Willow and Beau. He was predeceased by his sister Bonnie Milstein. Phil grew up in West Hartford and graduated from Hall High School and Central Connecticut State University. He was a devoted member of Beth David Synagogue. In 2010 he was recognized by the UConn Medical Center for his 30 years of volunteer service having given 25,000 hours of volunteer time. He "retired" in 2011 when circumstances required he move into the Hebrew Home. Phil had cerebral palsy but his CP did not define him. He once said "I have cerebral palsy. When I was born I had damage to my brain but not to the thinking part". This attitude is what defined Phil. Never did he let his disability slow him down or prevent him from living a full and happy life. He had an inquisitive mind and was a great listener. He really wanted to know about the people who came into his life, not just their name. As someone who required the assistance of others, Phil always wanted to give something back. He did this by making you feel special in his presence. His cheerful attitude, optimism and smile will be missed by all who knew him. His family would like to thank all those that helped Phil live his extraordinary life, including the home health aides who assisted him in his apartment as well as the Hebrew Home, to the caring and professional staff of St. Francis Hospital and to the many friends who cared about and for Phil. Donations may be made to Beth David Synagogue, The Hebrew Home and Hospital or to the charity of your choice . A funeral will be held Friday, June 10, 2016 at 9:30 AM at Beth David Synagogue with Rabbi Yitczhok Adler officiating. Interment will follow at Beth David Cemetery in Wethersfield, CT. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford, CT. For further information, directions, or to sign the guestbook, please visit online at www.weinsteinmortuary.com
