Kenneth H. Roberts
Kenneth H. Roberts, of Glastonbury, CT, died on September 28, 2015. He leaves behind his wife, the love of his life, Jean Patur Roberts, his son, Eric Roberts of Washington, D.C., his daughters Stephanie Gross, of Brooklyn, NY, and Meg Howard, his grandchildren, Elias Howard, and April Howard, her husband, Benjamin Dangl and their son Leon, all of VT. Born August 17, 1925, in Brooklyn, NY, Ken was the son of the late Samuel and Rose (Land) Rosenfeld. Ken was exceptionally close to his father, who died an untimely death while Ken was still serving in the army on the front lines of World War II. After the War, Ken graduated from Syracuse University, where he met his lifelong friend, Jack Harris. Ken founded, and co-owned with Jim Edwards, the successful Builder's Tile and Carpet Co., of Uncasville, CT, which he ran until his retirement. Ken and Jean married on September 23, 1970, and marked their 45th wedding anniversary shortly before his passing. Ken learned photography from his father and became a fine art photographer himself. Traveling and photography were passions which he enjoyed nearly to the end of his life. Ken's art was a vocation that he shared with Jean, a collage and assemblage artist, and which brought them closer. He was a dedicated supporter of Jean's work and art. In recent years, Ken carried with him the memories of his beloved lost friends, including Gabby Rosenfeld, Burt Cohen, Fred Perlstein and Jack Harris. Ken also leaves behind his dear and devoted friend and fellow photographer, Ken Kipen. During the past year, he enjoyed the expert care and compassionate company of caregiver Nana Owusu Ashaw, of Hartford, CT. The family particularly appreciates the support and attention given to him by neighbor Eileen Pratt and Dr. Jonathan Tress. Ken loved and was loyal to his family, friends and his siamese kittens. He enjoyed good jokes, thick steaks and rich desserts, and he flipped a mean pancake. He was a generous donor to local and international charities.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, October 1st, at the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Connecticut Food Bank. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford, CT.
