Bennett H. Pearl
Bennett H. Pearl, 85 of West Hartford, passed away on Wednesday April 15th at home after a brief illness leaving his wife of 61 years Libby Savitt Pearl. Born in Hartford, the son of the late Louis and Sadie (Aronsky) Pearl, Bennett graduated from Weaver High School in 1947 before attending Washington University and graduating from the University of Hartford. After his college graduation, he served in the U.S. Army in Europe during the Korean War. Following a 25 year career at Aetna Life, Bennett become a Pension Consultant for National Life of Vermont. After retirement, Bennett was a volunteer tutor for 16 years at the Rawson School in Hartford, coincidentally, the same school he had attended as a child. He also became very active at Congregation Beth Israel in re-invigorating "Legacy For Our Future" for which he received several awards. "¿as my ancestors planted for me, so too will I plant for my children." Talmud Ta'anit 23A. In addition to his loving wife, he leaves his three children: David Pearl and his wife Judy of Millis, MA; Sherri Pearl Horn and her husband Jonathan of Wellesley, MA; and Elaine Pearl Shapiro and her husband Michael of New London, CT. He also leaves behind his five loving grandchildren: Daniel, Joshua and Rebecca Pearl and Stephanie and Ali Horn. In addition, he leaves many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brother Gordon B. Pearl and his sister Phyllis P. Fink.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday April 17th at Congregation Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Ave. West Hartford. Interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, Jackson St. Ext., Avon. After the burial, the family will receive visitors at Beth Israel. Shiva will be observed at his home on Saturday from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm and on Sunday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Congregation Beth Israel - Legacy For Our Future, The Jewish Community Foundation - Bennett and Libby Pearl Fund, or the American Cancer Society .
