Regina Ochshendler Jacobs
Regina Jacobs passed away on the evening of 10 April 2015 after a good fight. She was a fighter. She survived four years of Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. She lost her parents and her sisters and her brother and other family to the Nazi terror. She was a slave laborer tatooed with the #67673 on her arm. She endured horrors. It was her dream to go to Israel as a teen but she was turned back. She was a Zionist to her core. Her sister Fela escaped the camps and survived Siberia and now lives in Australia. Fela authored non-fiction books and has a daughter Julia who is a doctor and a grandson who is a doctor and one who is a banker. Regina worked from the minute she came to the U.S. in 1947 until she retired in 2001. She met her husband Fred in Bergen-Belsen DP camp. Fred was a survivor of the Lodz Ghetto and Auschwitz Concentration camp. They were happily married until he died in 2012. Their lives were courageous and hopeful after a black nightmare. They raised two children Adele, who is a lawyer in Fairfield and Henry, who is a doctor in Hartford. Regina leaves Adele and Michael and Henry and Sheila and Grandsons Jacob and Steven and David and his wife Peri and Daniel and Jonathan, as well as Great grandchildren Lucas, Maddi, Rhya, Jason and Aiden. Her family was at her side at the end. We hope she is united with her loved ones that predeceased her.
