Charlotte Halpert
On January 5th, 2015, Charlotte Halpert passed gently to rest under the bright light of a lovely wolf moon. She was born in New York, NY, on September 1, 1930 and lived her life as a strong, independent woman in Manhattan until 2008 when she moved to Farmington, Connecticut to be near family. A graduate of City College, she worked as an editor for Scholastic for many years. At the age of 50, she decided to challenge herself to become a lawyer and attended Fordham Law in the evenings, graduating in 1985 at the top of her class, and passed the NY bar exam on the first try. Although she never practiced law, she was very proud of this achievement. She spent the last 6 years of her life in Farmington where she made many dear new friends at Middlewoods Assisted Living and enjoyed the opportunity to spend much time with her two grand-nephews whom she adored. Charlotte always had a bright smile on her face that lit up the room and enjoyed travel, music, reading, the arts, and discussing politics. Charlotte was predeceased by her sister, Sylvia (Halpert) Valensi and her parents, Joseph and Sadie (Applegreen) Halpert. She is survived by her niece, Pamela (Valensi) Reardon, Pam's husband Sean, and their children, Connor and Aaron who were the apple of her eye - they will all miss her so very much. She is also survived by her personal aide, Evadney Henry, who took wonderful care of her for the last two years of her life and was a blessing to Charlotte and her family.

The funeral service will be held at 9:00 am on Thursday, January 8th, at Weinstein Mortuary in Hartford, with a burial service at 11:30 am at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, NY.
