Edith Anderson Pollack
Edie Pollack of Farmington passed away on Dec 12, 2014 after a long and courageously fought illness. Born May 2, 1938 in Cairo, Illinois, she graduated from Cairo High School and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale with a major in social work. She is survived by her husband Marty and daughter Lisa. Relocated to Connecticut in 1974, she worked with the now Dept of Developmental Services. She was among three people selected to establish and operate one of the first Human Rights Offices in the U.S. She and her colleagues pioneered ground breaking protocols to assure client rights with ethical standards for treatment and dignified living conditions that are common practice today. Edie was endowed with an uplifting spirit and charming sense of humor. Her endearing interpersonal gifts attracted people to her. The core of her wonderful personality was an extraordinary quality of kindness that was ever-present in her personal and professional life. She was renowned for welcoming friends to her home on many gala occasions. She loved her Golden Retriever Roshi , travel and expressing creativity in her beautiful crafts and garden.

A funeral service will be at the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery on 15 Wolcott Rd East Granby on Monday, Dec 15 at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's research.
