Louis Peck
Louis Peck, 92, of Farmington, died peacefully Friday, July 18 at John Dempsey Hospital, surrounded by loving family. Born on December 3, 1921 in Moodus, CT, Louis was one of ten siblings. After growing up in Moodus and serving briefly in the U.S. Army during WWII, Louis spent youthful days driving a taxicab in New York City before returning to Moodus to help run the family business. He was, for many years, employed as a tool-and-die maker with Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford, Middletown and Southington. Following his retirement he helped manage a number of family-owned properties in the West Hartford area. He was an active member of the Beth Shalom Rodfe Zedek Congregation and, for a time, served as president of Congregation Rodfe Zedek and the local B'nai B'rith chapter. He also served as treasurer of the East Haddam Democratic Town Committee. A charming man with an infectious sparkle in his eye, he took great pride in giving his time and energy to help others in his community in any way he was able. He is survived by his son, Stanley Peck and daughter, Cheryl Allevo and her husband Ronald, granddaughters Heather Erdmann and Jamie Peck, great-grandsons Ben and Oliver Erdmann, his sister Trudy Schiege as well as many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian Peck, and his longtime partner Inge Baer. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 20 at 2PM at Congregation Beth Shalom Rodfe Zedek at 55 East Kings HIghway in Chester. Donations can be made in Louis's memory to Congregation Beth Shalom Rodfe Zedek.
