Jack Hasson
Dr. Jack Hasson passed away on the morning of May 31, 2013 in Bloomfield, at the age of 88, after a two year bout with cancer. Jack was born on January 26, 1925 in NYC. His parents were Turkish immigrants and Sephardic Jews whose ancestors fled from Spain to Turkey in 1492 to escape the Spanish Inquisition. Jack sensed as a child that he was safeguarded by a guardian angel and subsequent events bolstered this belief during his life. The first was being born in NYC because of the wonderful results that followed. NYC provided him a fabulous public education, which included the City College of New York. His luck included innate intellectual abilities, which enabled him to advance through the public school system and gain admission to medical school in1947 at the SUNY Downstate Medical School. After a fantastic experience in Medical school, his love of biology attracted him to the field that dealt with the biology of diseases, pathology. He married a fellow biologist, Margo Francis Wolf, who pursued a career as a PhD immunologist and bore him two wonderful sons. Jack enjoyed his career as a pathologist and researcher, teaching medical students and budding pathologists. He worked at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, Montefiore Hospital in NYC and was Chief of Pathology at Mount Sinai Hospital, Hartford. He experienced the best of the patient care and academic worlds and took pride in always having faculty appointments in medical schools. He was an avid reader, bird watcher, gardener and naturalist, beloved as a lecturer, medical consultant and teacher by his students and family alike. His first wife died after 56 fulfilling years. Then, unexpected good fortune reappeared the following year when he met his future second wife, Alice T. Loomis. This final union was for both of them a second lifetime, the continuing handiwork of his guardian angel. He is survived by his wife Alice T. Loomis; brother Robert Hasson; sons, Kenneth and Perry Hasson; grandson Benjamin Jack Hasson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private memorial services are being held by the family.
