Stanley S. Orkin
Stanley S. Orkin, 86 years of age, of West Hartford, formerly of Vernon, died Sunday, May 5, 2013. He was the husband of the late Marilyn (Betts) Orkin. Born in The Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Albert and Doris Orkin. He was a US Army veteran. Stanley graduated from NYU with a BSME and West Virginia University with a MSME. With his degrees, Stan became a very successful and prominent engineer and inventor with the Kamatics Corporation in Bloomfield. As a co-founder of this Kaman Corporation subsidiary of the Kaman Corporation, Stan held numerous patents in his name. Besides his love for work, Stan was a loving husband and a good friend to a great many dear friends, especially Sally Gross as well as an avid reader whom had an emotional affinity for Israel, visiting there several times. He leaves his sons, Terence B. Orkin and his wife Leslie of Mansfield, MA, and Curtis B. Orkin of West Hartford; and five grandchildren, Rachel, Dana, Mitchell, Benjamin, and Cassie Orkin. He was predeceased by his sister, Gloria Rabinowitz, and her late husband, Ephraim Rabinowitz.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford. Interment will follow in Mt. Ararat Cemetery, Farmingdale, LI, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marilyn and Stanley Orkin Fund at the Jewish Community Foundation, 333 Bloomfield Avenue, Suite D, West Hartford, CT 06117.
