Philip Zieky
Philip Zieky, 86 years of age, who resided in Delray Beach, FL, formerly of West Hartford, CT, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH. He was the husband of the late Evelyn (Grobard) Zieky. Born in East Windsor, CT, he was the son of the late Max and Anna (Markman) Zieky.

He was a US Army Veteran of World War II. After attending Weaver High School in Hartford, CT he continued his education at the Morse School of Business and New York University. He returned home to Hartford and entered the business that his father Max and older brother Paul had started. Along with his brother Paul, they grew General Building Supply Company into one of the largest building supply yards in the Northeast and provided opportunities for the 3rd generation of Zieky’s to continue the family business. He was a member of Beth El Synagogue in West Hartford and an avid member of Tumblebrook Country Club in Bloomfield, the Hamlet Country Club in Delray Beach Florida and the Palm Beach Club in Palm Beach, Florida. He enjoyed golf and in later years a friendly “gin” game with all of his friends.

He leaves two sons, Eliott Zieky and his wife Donna of East Hampton, CT, Jeffrey Zieky and his wife Stephanie of Scottsdale, AZ, his brother Paul Zieky of Delray Beach, FL, and five grandchildren Ben Zieky, Max Zieky and his wife Cortney, Jennifer and her husband Todd Corcoran, Dan Zieky and his fiancé Holly Sigars, and Sarah Zieky. He also has three great grandchildren Jack and Olivia Corcoran, and Zander Zieky. He was pre-deceased by his sister Sylvia Fishberg.

He also leaves his fiancé Sydell Miller and her daughters, Lauren and her husband Steven Spilman, Stacie and her husband Jeffrey Halpern, her brother Dennis and Barbara Lubin, grandchildren Alana and Max Spilman, Lindsey and Austin Halpern, Jarrod and Evan Lubin.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 13, 2013 at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT with Rabbi Yitzchok Adler officiating. Interment will follow in the United Synagogues of Greater Hartford Memorial Park, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT. A special thank you goes out to all the doctors and nurses who cared for Phil during his illness while at the Cleveland Clinic. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Research Cleveland Clinic Foundation, P.O.
