Irving Rosenberg
Irving Joseph Rosenberg, 91, passed away at his Newington home on Saturday, (July 7, 2012). Irving was the son of the late Ada and William Rosenberg. He was born in Hartford at Mount Sinai Hospital. He leaves behind his loving wife, Miriam (Laurie) of 65 years. He was predeceased by his sisters Sophie Irwin and her late husband Archie, formally of New London CT, and Ethel Levine and husband Edward of West Hartford. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Stuart E. Rosenberg and his wife Mary Lynn of Bristol, CT, his daughter Sharon Gorlick Royer and her husband Peter of West Hartford, CT, and his sister Charlotte Saportin and her late husband George of Hamden CT. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Ean Gorlick, Alicya-Megan Suffish and her husband Max, Ellen Rosenberg, William Southall, two great grandchildren, Taylor and Jayden Suffish and several nieces and nephews. Irving was a WWII US Army Veteran. He served as a Sergeant Major and a member of the Military Police. Irving was also a member of Jewish War Veterans and a member of Beth El Temple, West Hartford. He retired from the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Newington and West Haven where he served as a Purchasing Agent. Prior to this position he was a Manager of several movie theaters including the original Central Theatre in West Hartford. Early on in his business career he also was the Manager of Nemrow Bros Wholesale Candy and Tobacco Company in Hartford CT many years. Irving was an extremely hard worker and enjoyed working until he was 84. He worked several jobs for many years to provide for his family. He was a Manager ahead of his time when it came to business. He adored his wife and was so proud of his children, grandchildren and great grand children. Irving always had a smile, never had a bad word to say about anyone, and easy going. Known as the "nicest man you'd ever meet." He will also be remembered for his beautiful voice, singing his happy tunes, and his passion for the old Blue Hills Community and downtown Hartford. The family wishes to thank members of the Medical and Nursing Staff of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center for the outstanding care especially Dr. Bernard Clark whom we all adore. In addition, we also like to thank his nurse, Gina Corraccio for her outstanding care and his care givers, Ellen T. and Claire for their patience and devotion.

Funeral service will be held Monday, July 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Jonathan Welfare Society Cemetery/Albany Jewish Cemetery on Garden Street off of Tower Ave. in Hartford. A memorial period will be observed at the home of his daughter, Sharon Gorlick Royer in West Hartford Monday following the interment through Thursday evening.
