Evelyn (Schupack) Tobias
Evelyn (Schupack) Tobias, 76, a lifelong resident of Hartford and Simsbury, beloved wife of Walter Tobias, died Sunday (March 4, 2012) at home. She was born on November 26, 1935 in Hartford, daughter of the late Jack and Esther (Miller) Schupack. She was a member of the 1953 graduating class of Bulkeley High School. Evelyn brought music into the lives of hundreds of people over the years, both as a performer and teacher of guitar and piano. While today Evelyn's guitar gently weeps, her voice and her music live on through all of them. Besides her husband, she leaves three children, Steve Tobias and his wife Robin of Granby, Karen Stanford and her husband Ted of Farmington, and Rob Tobias and his wife Debbie of Burlington; and six grandchildren: Jesse, Lindsay, Ashley, Jared, Michael and Zachary. She was predeceased by her sister Pauline Davis. The family expresses its deep appreciation to the McLean Home staff for all their care and devotion.

Funeral service and burial will be held on Wednesday, March 7 at 1 p.m. at The Hartford Mutual Cemetery, 15 Wolcott Rd., East Granby. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the McLean Home, 75 Great Pond Road in Simsbury. A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held at the home of her husband Walter, 12 Springbrook Lane, Simsbury, immediately following the service until 8 p.m.
