Abraham 'Al' Liverant
Abraham ‘Al’ Liverant, 91, of West Hartford, CT passed away on Sunday, November 20th, 2011. He was the husband of 49 years to the late and beloved Dorothy (Kernberg) Liverant. Born in Willimantic, he was the son of the late Nathan and Esther (Solinsky) Liverant, predeceased by siblings, Benjamin Liverant, Ruth Liverant Peck, and Israel “Zeke” Liverant and survived by his devoted sister, Pearl Liverant Vogel of Bloomfield and brother, Phillip Liverant, of Colchester. He served proudly in the US Merchant Marine during World War II. Always the humble public servant, Al was employed by the US Postal Service in Bloomfield for twenty-five years and cherished the relationships he had with his patrons. He was a long-time member and served on the Board of Directors, of Congregation Agudas Achim in West Hartford. He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans, Laurel Post 45, past President of NALC Branch 4710, past Noble Grand of Jonathan Lodge No. 66 IOOF and past Vice President of Jonathan Welfare Society.

He leaves his children, Wendy S. Liverant of Alpharetta, GA and Robert C. Liverant of Racine, WI; two beloved granddaughters, Natalie U. Liverant and Stephanie K. Liverant of Schaumburg, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 11:00am in the Sanctuary of Congregation Ahavath Achim, 84 Lebanon Avenue, Colchester with Rabbi Kenneth Alter, officiating. Interment will follow at Congregation Ahavath Achim Cemetery, Colchester. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Agudas Achim or Hebrew Health Care in West Hartford.
