Robert M. Kimenker
Robert M. Kimenker, 94 years of age, of West Hartford, died peacefully Wednesday (July 21, 2010) at home. Born and raised in Hartford (son of Sholom and Sarah), he resided in West Hartford since 1954. The wonderful husband of Lillian Kimenker for 63 years, he leaves a legacy of devotion to family, friends, and community. He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II, and a graduate of the University of Hartford. He spent most of his working career at Lipman Motors (40 years), where he was the leasing and credit manager. He was a long-time and active member of Congregation Beth Israel, an avid tennis player, a violinist with the Connecticut Valley Chamber Orchestra, a loyal fan of the Red Sox, and an indomitable camper, traveling throughout North America in his beloved van. His first love (after Lillian) was music—a passion he passed on to his three children. Among his favorite activities were the times the family played chamber music together. Robert is survived by his three children, James Kimenker and his wife Jennifer, Emily Beaton and her husband Graeme, and Nina Kimenker and her husband Joshua Paul. He leaves behind eight devoted grandchildren: Alison Kimenker, Kathryn Hasenfuss, Kimberly Hasenfuss, Benjamin Beaton, Jack Beaton, Ezra Beaton and his wife Shauntel, Rachel Paul and Jacob Paul, and two great-grandchildren: Rand Beaton and Leila Beaton. In addition, he is survived by his nieces: Barbara Chazan, and Barbara Kinloch and her husband William; his nephew Richard Goldberg and his wife Bobbie, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 25, 2010 at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Michael Pincus officiating. Interment will follow in the Beth Israel Cemetery, Avon. The family will receive visitors at Robert and Lillian’s home following the interment, and on Monday between 6-8 p.m., and Tuesday between 3-5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford 06119.
