Ida (Goldfarb) Shoor
Ida (Goldfarb) Shoor, 94, of West Hartford, died peacefully on Thursday, (December 25, 2008) at home with her daughter and granddaughter by her side. Friends and family will remember her as an impeccable dresser, a superior card player, an avid knitter, and a wonderful cook. Born in Poland to parents Meyer and Sarah (Gopin) Goldfarb on April 4, 1914, Ida and her family moved to Toronto, Canada in 1921 before settling in Hartford in 1929. Ida was the wife of the late Harold J. Shoor. She leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela S. and Michael C. Noble of East Greenwich, RI; grandchildren: Matthew, Kyle and Hillary Noble; and her brother and sister-in-law, Benjamin S. and Dolly F. Goldfarb of West Hartford. She was predeceased by her brother Harry E. Goldfarb; her sister-in-law Syd Goldfarb; her sister Rose Silver; and her brother-in-law Morris Silver. Extraordinarily devoted to her family and friends, Ida leaves a loving extended family, many close friends, and her faithful companion of the last 15 years, Morris Goodman of West Hartford. Ida worked as a buyer and manager at I. Miller, and later as a real estate agent for Peter B. Janes until the age of 85. She was a member of Congregation Beth Israel, Women's American ORT, and Hadassah. Ida's family thanks the staff at Chatfield for its attention and care, as well as Eveth Grant and Joy Brown for their kindness and compassion during Ida's final weeks. Funeral services will be Sunday, December 28, at 10 a.m. in the Sanctuary of Congregation Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Ave., West Hartford with Rabbi Michael Pincus officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Center for Celiac Research, c/o University of Maryland (www.celiaccenter.org).
