Arthur H. Kruh
Arthur H. Kruh, 90, of Attawanhood Trail, Old Saybrook, formerly of Bloomfield, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at his home. Arthur was born December 27th, 1917 in Hartford, to the late William and Fanny Kruh. He was married to the former Etta Cutler in August 1939. She predeceased him April 1999. Arthur proudly served in the US Army overseas during World War II. He was an excellent marksman. Upon his return from military service, he began working in the machining business. He later started his own business, The Bloomfield Machine Company which he owned and operated for over 30 years, retiring in 1980. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and special Zadie. He is survived by his seven adoring children: David Kruh of Plainville, Robert Kruh and his wife Jane of Cloverdale, OR, Thomas Kruh of Old Saybrook, Bruce Kruh of Old Saybrook, Susan Schwalbendorf and her husband Dennis of South Windsor, Laurie Kruh and her husband William VanNostrand of Bristol and Pamela Kruh and her husband Michael Lewin of Old Saybrook and Groton. Arthur was predeceased by his daughter Heidi. He leaves behind 13 adoring grandchildren: Allen Schwalbendorf, Lottie Hackner, Heidi Zabilansky, Albert Leveque, Joshua Battista, Zachary, Samuel and Etta Lewin, William Kruh, Brendan Kruh and William, Heather and Ryan VanNostrand. He will also be sadly missed by his nine great grandchildren. He was also predeceased by his sister Shirley Stavnezer and is survived by his sister Estelle Limon and her husband Harvey of Naples, FL. The family would like to thank his compassionate care givers Ozoda and Eroda and the wonderful staff of Middlesex Hospice. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi David J. Small officiating. Interment will follow in the Cutler Family Circle Cemetery, West Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends one half hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Memorial observance will be held at the home of his daughter, Susan Schwalbendorf, 17 Pam Lane, South Windsor on Sunday following the funeral and Monday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society, or Hospice.
