Julian A. Sachs
Dr. Julian A. Sachs (KDJ), 86, born March 30,1922, husband of the late sweet beautiful Gladys Berg Sachs died with dignity in the Emergency room at the Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain General Monday September 1 where he had worked for 25 years as one of the original Emergency Room physicians starting in 1968 until his retirement in 1992. Prior to this he had a home-office general practice of medicine (1949-1968). During this time, in his own words, he saw thousands of patients, made thousands of house calls, and earned hundreds of dollars. He was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Yale University School of Medicine, class of 1946. He also served as a class agent for the class of 1946 and Yale Medical School Alumni fund from 1962-1981. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving as Chief of Radiology at Fort Tottin General Hospital in 1947 and one year following as a Transport Surgeon on a Victory Ship. Julian will be remembered for all of this, as well as his one-of-a-kind sense of humor and personality. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Nancy and James Mead of Bristol, son and daughter-in-law Kenneth Sachs and Yonna McShane of Vermont, son Jonathan Sachs of Collinsville, and son and daughter-in-law Peter and Laura Sachs of Saco, ME; 5 grandchildren Jennifer Mead, Russell Mead and his fiancé Jen, and Eric, Todd and Eva Sachs. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Murray Sachs and Leo Sachs. A graveside service will be Thursday Sept 4th at 11am at the Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation Memorial Park, Mountain View Avenue, Avon. Family and friends are welcome to the home of Nancy Mead 40 Purdue Road, Bristol, CT following the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimers Association, 279 New Britain Road, Kensington, CT 06037. The family would also like to thank the staff at Brittany Farms for all of their kind and loving care for their father and grandfather.
