Ruth L. Pulda
Ruth L. Pulda, 53, of West Hartford, CT June 9, 2008. The sun, the stars and the moon to her boys: Husband, Howard Rifkin and sons, David and Caleb Pulda-Rifkin. Beloved daughter of Mary Pulda of Shrewsbury, MA and the late Louis Pulda, of blessed memory. Truly loved daughter-in-law of Sylvia Rifkin. The rock for her sisters and brothers: Margery Blonder, Elizabeth Tapper, Arnold Pulda, Harriet Ben-Ner, and Robert Pulda. Always along for the ride, the outlaws: Fred Blonder, Peter Simkin, Pat Pulda, Avner Ben-Ner, Kathy Pulda, Eric and Gail Rifkin. Proud Aunt to Barbara Blonder and David Haynes, Ken Blonder, Lynne Tapper and Leland Brandt, Eve Tapper and Adam Ochlis, Molly and Sam Pulda, Yonaton, Shira, Galia, Yael and Amir Leon, Dana and Julie Pulda, Drew and Darah Rifkin. Loving great Aunt to Matthew and Emily Ochlis, Sofie and Eli Brandt, and Seth Haynes.

Leader, educator, mentor and advocate to a generation of Connecticut lawyers and on behalf of womens rights, civil rights and social justice. Ruths law career spanned twenty-five years as a named partner in the plucky little law firm of Livingston, Adler, Pulda, Meiklejohn and Kelly. She loved a good fight and won more than she lost. She has been recognized by the Connecticut Bar as one of the top lawyers in Connecticut and received two awards very important to her lifes work: The Elizabeth Blackwell Award from Connecticut N.O.W. in 2003 for her tenacious commitment for health care for women and the 2006 One Woman Making a Difference award from CWEALF (CTs Womens Education and Legal Fund). Ruth previously served as legal counsel to CWEALF, as chair of the State Permanent Commission on the Status of Women, and co-founded and taught the Womens Rights Clinic at the University of Connecticut School of Law.

Devoted friend and confidant to too many to mention she will be missed every day, but her impact on so many people and on so many issues will long endure.
