Beatrice "Bea" K. Cramer
Beatrice Bea K. Cramer, beloved wife of the late Sidney L. Chick Cramer, MD passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2008, from a long and courageous battle with Alzheimers Disease. She was born on April 26, 1915 to Charles and Gussie (Yuell) Kovner of Hartford. Her sister and tennis partner, Francis Liebman, predeceased her. A life long resident of Hartford, Bea graduated from Weaver High School, class of 33A, and from Connecticut State Teachers College in 1937. She worked as a librarian at Weaver High School until her marriage in 1941 to the love of her life. She was a member of Congregation Beth Israel, West Hartford, Hadassah and the Womens Auxiliary of the Hartford County Medical Society. She was an avid and accomplished world-class bridge player, achieving Life Master status and was a member of the Hartford and New Britain Bridge Club for decades. She traveled the globe matching wits with other World Class players. She was very competitive and an excellent athlete, playing tennis as a young woman and later golf with her husband on many vacations where they played together by day and ballroom danced at night. No matter if she was cheering on her Yankees making plays or Broadway plays she loved the Big Apple. She leaves behind her children: Dale (Frank) Pardo of Florham Park, NJ, Eric (Janet) Cramer, MD of Tucson, AZ, Elyse (Steven) Slitt of West Hartford, and Neville (Timea) Cramer of Scottsdale, AZ; her grandchildren: Dani (David) Bratton, Nicole (Peter Duffin) Pardo, Sasha (Josh) Cramer-McVeigh, Zack Cramer, Erin Slitt, Gavin Slitt, MD, Austin Slitt and Kirstin Slitt; and her great grandchildren: Riley and Tyler Duffin, Skylar Bratton and Jett McVeigh. Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at 1:30 PM in the Beth Israel Cemetery, Avon with Rabbi Stephen Fuchs officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donors choice. Arrangements entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford.
