Jacqueline Roth Kane
Jacqueline Roth Kane, a life-long resident of West Hartford, died Tuesday, (March 18, 2008) after a courageous battle with multiple myloma (amyloidosis). She was the daughter of the late Dr. Frank E. and Alice (Shoor) Roth and is survived by her husband Edward and children Patricia Kane Gibeley of Simsbury, James Kane of Needham; and her brother Dr. Malcolm S. Roth. She also leaves a son-in-law, Stephen Gibeley; a daughter-in-law, Sally Kane; a brother-in-law Sidney Kane; a sister-in-law Barbara Roth; and five grandchildren: Allison and Andrew Gibeley, and Taylor, Sam, and Parker Kane. She was a graduate of Hall High School and Simmons College and was a member of Congregation Beth Israel, Tumble Brook Country Club, and the Hartford Bridge Club. As a child advocate and dedicated teacher, her career spanned 38 years in the Hartford Public Schools. Her greatest rewards were the successes of her students in Project Concern and Mark Twain School. She was an avid golfer, bridge player, and supporter of the American Cancer Society and the UCONN Health Center Comprehensive Cancer Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 20 at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, with Rabbi Michael Pincus officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. A memorial period will be observed at her home, 37 Magnolia Hill, West Hartford, immediately following interment. The family will also receive relatives and friends at her home on both Friday and Sunday after 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dr. Frank E.
