Richard Steven White
Richard Steven White of North Steele Road, West Hartford passed away on Friday (November 9, 2007), at the age of 55 after a brief illness. Rick graduated from Case Western Reserve University, Boston University School of Law, and was a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, a member of MENSA, and recipient of many awards and honors over the years. Rick's incredible lust for life packed over 100 fascinating and fabulous years into his untimely death at 55. Rick loved his cars, his homes, his dog Maverick, and was a best friend to his mother Edythe, and role model to his sister Sheryl. Rick took on a patriarchal role to his family due to the early loss of his father Marshall, and will always be remembered as the "glue that kept us all together." He was an icon in the travel industry, as Executive Vice President and Co-owner of White Travel Service in West Hartford for the past 31 years. He was an avid world traveler, most recently several months ago completing a 2-month cruise-tour of South America. He was well known for his incredible personality, story telling and had friends all over the world. We will miss him and love him more than he will ever know. He leaves his mother Edythe White of West Hartford, his sister Sheryl Luke and her husband David of Pompano Beach, FL, and his beloved dog Maverick. He was predeceased by his father, Marshall White. The family would like to give special thanks to Alfred Woods, Jamie Luke, Paul Holden, Sherry Joseph, Nancy Hines, and Fran Sharp for their love and support. A very special thank-you to Dr. Asad Rizvi for his wonderful care and thoughtfulness. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 12, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford. Interment will follow in the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery, Wethersfield. A memorial period will be observed at his mother's home, 33 Whitehill Drive, West Hartford on Monday from 7 - 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr. PO Box 5022, Meriden, CT 06492, or to the Humane Society of the United States, 2100 L Street, NW, Washington, DC 20037.
