Emmett Russell Salzberg
Emmett Russell Salzberg, 82, of Abrahms Blvd., West Hartford, formerly of Trumbull, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007. Born on August 15, 1924 in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Herman and Freida Fritzi (Russell) Salzberg. He attended the Bronx High School of Science, City College of New York, Columbia University and Hofstra University. Emmett was a decorated T-5 US Army combat veteran of World War II, 727th Amphibious Tractor Battalion, who was very proud of his service to his country. President of Dixey Tapes Corp., a specialty adhesive tapes manufacturing company, he was also an inventor, holding many patents. He was an expert marksman; lover of Mozart, Beethoven and The Beatles; quoter of Shakespeare (Edward de Vere); avid photographer; and was well known for his irreverent wit. He was a great friend to his friends and a loving and supportive father. He leaves his daughters: Shelby Salzberg and her companion Howard Hewitt of East Providence, RI; and Laurie Salzberg and her husband, Michael Kopelman of West Hartford; his two newborn twin grandsons: Max and Eli Kopelman; his former wife, Lee (Greenhut) Salzberg of Trumbull, and a sister Lenore Greenberg of NY, NY. A graveside funeral service with full military honors will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at 2:00 PM in the Beth Israel Cemetery, Jackson St., Avon, with Rabbi Michael Pincus officiating.
