Bertha (Adler) Kroopneck
Bertha Kroopneck, 87, beloved wife of the late Maxwell Kroopneck, formerly of Bloomfield, passed away Sunday morning September 24, 2006 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Bertha was born in Hartford, January 18th, 1919. Daughter of the late Joseph and Minnie Adler, she attended Weaver High School and graduated in the class of 1938. She worked at Pratt and Whitney and was known as “Rosie the riveter”. She also worked at Wise Smith, Blue Bird and Susan Terry Dress Shop. She was a member of the Agudas Achim Synagogue of West Hartford and the Sisterhood of the Synagogue. Additionally, she was also active in the Jewish War Veterans. She lovingly gave of her time as a Girl and Boy Scout leader, her kindness and caring was given to anyone who needed her, especially during her volunteer work at the Hebrew Home for the Aged. She was a dear and beloved mother to daughter Judy Seigel-Bedini, of West Haven, her husband Marlo Bedini and her son Ira Kroopneck of New Haven. She is survived by her sister Harriet Sockut of Ohio and her brother Frank Adler of Oregon. She was the sister of the late Irene Katz of Winsted, and Izador Adler of Florida. She leaves three cherished grandchildren Jay Seigel and Charles Kroopneck of Wallingford, and Marc Kroopneck of Nevada. She was blessed with two wonderful childhood friends Jeanette Balfor of West Hartford, and Beulah Katz of Georgia. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 27th at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave, Hartford. Interment will follow in the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, East Granby. Memorial contributions can be made to the Jewish Home for the Aged, 169 Davenport Ave, New Haven. CT. 06519.
