Message: Phyllis was such a kind, giving woman. As a fundraiser, I was blessed to have her in my world. However, it is our hours of conversation that I will remember fondly. As a fellow Jewish mother we had lots to talk about. I remember one conversation that we had when I was home one day that went on for 2 hours. When her other phone started ringing and I encouraged her to answer it. She said, "Oh, I will call you back because I never asked you the question I needed to." I will miss you Phyllis and your incredible gift for gab! Much Love Always, Madelene

Message: A piece of my heart broke today when I heard that Phyllis had passed. I would spend hours listening to her glorious adventures, stories of how proud she was of her children and grand children. She would call me at Westfarms Nordstrom, tell me what time she would be there. I would wait outside for Phyllis and we would walk in together...I spent 12 years looking forward to seeing that beautiful smile, listening and learning from her; all with style, grace, wit & wisdom. I transferred to the Providence Nordstrom in 2014 but on my last day Phyllis called and said ..."Don't you leave, I'll be right there!" She came into the store, hugged me, and with tears in our eyes we said our good-byes. She left me with a trinket box, in inside of that box was a note, saying, "She cherished our friendship"... I am saying good-bye again, with tears in my eyes... I adore you Phyllis Gelles God Bless your journey and your family. With Love and Admiration Linda Mendonca
